Jorge Helder

Bass player from Ceará, he started music at the age of 9, having as teachers his father with the mandolin, and his aunt on the guitar. Still living in Fortaleza, at the age of 16, he joined the musical group at the school where he studied, starting his career as a bassist. During this same period, he had the opportunity to accompany several artists from Ceará, such as Teti and Rodger, Calé Alencar and Mona Gadelha, among others.

 

In 1982, having completed high school, he moved to Brasília and entered the Escola de Música de Brasília (EMB), where he studied classical acoustic bass. During the period he lived in the Federal District, he accompanied Rosa Passos, Cassia Eller, Zélia Duncan, Marco Pereira and many other great local musicians. In 1986 he moved to Rio de Janeiro to accompany the singer Sandra de Sá, Marcos Valle and continue his studies of classical bass with the master Sandrino Santoro. In the following years, Jorge Helder had the opportunity to participate in concerts and CD recordings by great national and international artists: Maria Bethânia , Nana Caymmi , Gal Costa , Edu Lobo, Francis Híme, Adriana Calcanhoto and Chico Buarque, with whom he became partner of some songs.
